Last year, Ingalls hosted a Project MFG welding competition highlighting students' skills from the Jackson County high school welding programs.

For our newcomers, Project MFG is a national DOD-sponsored activity highlighting the importance of craft skills in the defense sector.

At present, the conversation is for Ingalls to change the event from last year's pressure vessel to a competition activity, emulating more of the work expected at Ingalls.  

This past year's event included new 2nd-year students, 2nd-year completers, and 2nd-year completers attending Ingalls ShipBuilding Academy. With additional competition areas available, I see the participant numbers increasing.

This is a beautiful opportunity for your students to show off their skills to a larger audience, and they get some cool swag from Ingalls, along with awards, including the 2023 winner from Moss Point CTE!
