CTE’s October 2019 employee spotlight

MP CTE’s October 2019 employee spotlight proudly shines on Ms. Angela Davis! Ms. Davis is the (FACS) Family and Consumer Science instructor and serves as an adviser for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).

Family and Consumer Science prepares students for living in the real world and helps them develop leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, communication, computer, and mathematical skills. Ms. Davis is brand new to the MPSD and earned a Masters degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Ms. Davis’s most rewarding accomplishments were earning a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and working for a domestic violence shelter as a Community Outreach Coordinator. It was her responsibility to educate the community about domestic violence, agencies available to help victims, and hold panel discussions with city officials.

In conjunction with a local counseling center, she counseled victims. Her greatest responsibility was to advocate for victims in court proceedings. When children were affected by domestic violence, Ms. Davis would use Play Therapy to help them.
